What is P0101?

P0101 indicates a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor circuit, meaning the sensor readings are outside the expected range for current engine conditions. This is a medium-severity powertrain issue that affects fuel delivery and engine performance, commonly triggered by sensor failures, intake leaks, or electrical problems. Based on real data, this code appears frequently in Honda Civic, Nissan Maxima, and Chevrolet Spark models.

Common Causes:

  • Faulty or contaminated MAF sensor (most common cause)
  • Intake air leaks after the MAF sensor
  • Damaged or corroded wiring/connectors in the MAF circuit
  • Dirty or clogged air filter restricting airflow

Symptoms:

  • Check Engine Light illuminated on dashboard
  • Reduced engine power or hesitation during acceleration
  • Poor fuel economy and rough idle
  • Engine stalling or difficulty starting

So I changed my MAF sensor thinking that was causing the problem but it still keeps going on limp mode. I still have the SES light on after changing the sensor to new one.

How did a simple stop almost turn into close to 500.00 buck. Boy it works on some but not me I don't have extended warranty, so I'm afraid they'll charge me to perform an ECM reprogram.

They performed an ECM reprogram, ( NTB12-051J) they tried to charge me but, I said hey look under my extended warranty pal. Funny I I heard it the whole time I was there.

I am also getting the P0101 code. On my code reader it lists it twice, one says "permanent" and will not go away when I clear codes.
